Ministry of Environment - Drive Clean Program
The Ministry of Environment needed an IT& T Consultant to assist in management of a contract to build and
manage their emission record data acquisition and central database management system used by the Drive Clean
program.
Over 1000 PCs in garages all over Toronto were connected to a central database via a wide area dial-up network.
The central database was also connected with the Ministry of Transport Vehicle Record Database system for
periodic update of vehicle licensing information and to download vehicle emission test results. The IBM
mainframe and RS6000 AIX based MTO system was experiencing some problems in communicating with the PC server
based network managed by the Ministry of Environment.
ACIS Consulting performed project risk assessment through detailed analysis of all outstanding technical
problems. Our programmers developed a specialized test program to help us perform data quality and error
analysis of over 2.5 million database records containing vehicle emission test results.
Management was provided with a prioritized list of key outstanding problems along with recommended solutions.
Technical solutions were worked out through extensive discussions/negotiations with vendor technical team
thereby assuring our client, the Ministry of Environment, received all of the benefits stipulated in the
contract.
Based on experience gained from this exercise, ACIS was then assigned to participate in producing a detailed
technical specification document for a follow-on release designed to address all outstanding requirements not
covered in initial product.

Insurance Engine - Internet Based Insurance Bidding System
IE Engine was interested in developing an Internet based RFP distribution and Bid management system specifically
tailored to Insurance and Brokerage companies serving the fortune 500 companies.
The business objective was to design a new user-friendly process that significantly streamlined the procedure of
matching insurance buyers and sellers. A key goal was to minimize the amount of paper work and drastically reduce
the cycle time to pick the best submission.
ACIS Consulting designed the complete set of over 300 user interface panels by following a user-centric approach
to process flow throughout the entire product. These user interface panels were then integrated with Oracle
database backend using Cold Fusion as mid-layer containing the business and data access logic.
ACIS Consulting also developed a fully animated Flash based product tutorial that was used by sales force to
demonstrate the powerful business capabilities of this revolutionary service.

Airline Industry - Back Office IT & T System Upgrade
ACIS Consulting has had over six years of involvement with the airline industry.
ACIS won the contract to perform system requirements analysis and to recommend a leading edge systems design
solution to address the needs of a National Airline for next ten years.
Upon satisfactory completion of the systems design assignment, ACIS was subsequently awarded the contract to
manage the complete implementation process over a period of two years.
The Airline IT&T systems upgrade project involved replacement of the complete back office Mainframe system with
a modern client server system network, including satellite interfaces for reservations and weather information
exchange capability.
- The back office applications included:
- Aircraft Maintenance and Spare parts Inventory,
- Airline Revenue Accounting System,
- Flight Planning System,
- Revenue Optimization System,
- Airline specific payroll system, and
- General Accounting system
The six different application packages from major airline vendors had to be seamlessly integrated through a
common data warehousing systems architecture designed by ACIS.
Some major programming tasks were also successfully carried out by ACIS to write an interface program to link
the inventory management system and the accounting and general ledger systems.
Another complex communications interface program was also developed to seamlessly integrate the Revenue
optimization system with the International Airline and Transport Association (AITA) network.

Government of Ontario - Enterprise Search Engine Gateway
The Ontario Government has over 100 websites that are created and maintained by the various ministries and
government agencies. This number of websites makes it very difficult for individual citizens and for businesses
to easily locate and access government services.
The Government has identified a requirement for a Website Crawler/Indexer and Search Engine that will be used
to create a single search gateway for accessing all of the information and over 1 million documents located in
all of these websites.
ACIS partnered with Fast Search and Transfer of Norway to offer a solution based on FAST Data Search and has
been selected as the winning bidder. Read more....

Retail Banking Network - IT Project Risk Assessment
Senior management at large retail bank with 147 banking outlets required an independent project assessment and
risk analysis before embarking on a major project to overhaul the complete IT& T system.
ACIS was selected to perform a comprehensive assessment and report to management along with recommendation on
whether to proceed with the project.
The ACIS team applied a rigorous assessment methodology and conducted extensive onsite interviews to arrive at
a convincing conclusion on risk status. A set of alternate action items and a new approach for implementation
was also presented. This was immediately accepted and adopted by management thereby (we believe) avoiding major
failure.

Web Hosting and Management
As part of initiative to stay directly involved with web-based technologies, ACIS designs and manages a limited number of client websites through its TrorontoWebHosting.com service offering.
These websites employ various technologies including Verisign Credit Card Payment Processing Gateway, web database application using SQL database backend and PHP front end, various interactive forms using Perl CGIs, banner rotation programs, search engine registration programs; server security management, visitor traffic monitoring and tracking etc.
ACIS contract programmers have also been involved in design and development of several major websites.
